Lactarius is often mildly poisonous and they had to be parboiled. Three are also quite many different species of them, and in general it is better to taste first. Some of them are just way too bitter, and taste is not good after all.
Same with me. I know some, thanks to my mother's teaching, but I personally limit the selection only on Cantharellus cibarius and Craterellus cornucopioides.
