Glen Canyon Dam - 1986
Glen Canyon Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River in northern Arizona, near the town of Page. The 220 m high dam was built from 1956 to 1966 and forms Lake Powell, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the with a capacity of 33 km³. The catchment area of Colorado river is 280590 km². The power house has eight Francis turbines, each has a cpower of 254000 hp. The total Installed capacity is 1320 MW (for comparison: Hoover Dam power plant has a capacity of 2080 MW). - see PiP's
