Decided to take a short cut through an alleyway on my walk yesterday, amongst the dog poo, beercans and face masks, saw this flower growing up the fence!

HFF, have a fine weekend and stay healthy

My mother told me about the passiflora:
A long time ago, numerous Christians dealt with the extraordinary appearance of the Passiflora and interpreted the individual flower elements as different symbols of the Christian religion.
Accordingly, the ten white petals were understood to be ten of a total of twelve apostles who kept faithful to Jesus Christ. In this interpretation, Judas the traitor and Peter the denier were not taken into account. The thread-like border around the center of the flower symbolizes the crown of thorns that was placed on the head of Jesus Christ before the Passion to the Cross. Furthermore, the stamens of the flowers represent the wounds of Christ that he is said to have worn all over his body. The three upright scars on the plant were interpreted as nails with which Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross.
This religious interpretation gave this exotic beauty the name passion flower.
