Invaders

Invaders, the Spanish Bluebell H. hispanica is considered an invader in the UK it was imported and probably escaped from a garden it is larger and grows faster that our native bluebell it also cross pollenates so the true English ones are being lost, most of those in my garden look mixed that one looks pure Spanish. Ideally I should spray and dig out all of them then buy some pure English ones

I have them in my garden Peter. Already here when I moved in. Yesterday I was in a forest full of native bluebells but they were just past their best. The shots I took of individual bluebells turned out the best. It was a lovely walk though and lots of wild garlic!
A beautiful shot. Good evening.

Peter Castell replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

I'm pleased you enjoyed your walk Rosalyn I think if you did try to eliminate the invaders they would creep back in again, they add some colouring the garden, the weeds are getting a nice drink !! enjoy your day
