a lucky squirrel perhaps? i'm always intrigued by these hulls - i like how in your photo there's a tuft of dried grass in the bottom left that mimics the hull - adds nicely to the photo giving my eye someplace to go.

"Gone and eaten" ;-)) We have a lot of them on the edge of the roads, we collect them to put them in the embers of the fireplace, it's really delicious.
I only found empty ones, there is a horse chestnut 2 houses from me the squirrels bury them in the garden then forget them so they start growing, I hope you have a nice weekend Christa
Nice find!! I love the coverings to these chestnuts, they are so much like porcupines or hedgehogs. Funny that the squirrels bury them in your yard and then you have to take care of the seedlings! :D
