O&S(meme) - wired vs free

And if you show that 'phone to most of the modern generation, they would have no idea how to operate it to make a call, although they might manage to pick up on an incoming call.
[Not that it would work, as it will be "pulse-dialling" rather than "tone dialling" and I don't know if that system is still supported - it isn't for the national UK network].

I'm going to see if I can determine a date / model ...
E2A = Some discussions with a 'phone collector suggests that this may be an "Ericisson" [sp?] or a similar non-UK design. Date is probably pre-WW2 [so late 1930s].

Hi Sara
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Yes, pulse dialling is still supported in England! I still have a rotary dial phone in one bedroom, and it still works!
Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

I can still hear and feel the rotary dialing of my home phone number! Of course it was only 7 numbers. You've got me checking if my phone service will support rotary still or not. Apparently rotary is making a small comeback with retro lovers and many phone companies still support it here in the US.

But to the point of the message, it is so true! On my next vacation I'm going to go sans phone and any other internet type thing and just be where I am!!

I rely on my landline phone as it has loop setting so I can actually hear what is being said. Smart phones are no good to me.

It's been that way for a while. About 25 years ago a primary school aged child, a guest of a daughter, wanted to ring her parents. I pointed her to the dial wall phone but she didn't know how to use it.
