I love the colours and the artistic feel to the scene, but for me at least the lack of height and proximity to the central characters mean it doesn't quite work as a tilt-shift ... sorry!

I am with auto on this one. I find it difficult to find just where you were isolating the in focus part of the photo. I think I would prefer this one in focus as the composition is compelling on its own merits.
