Illustrated Story

I have discovered a fascinating illustrated story on a wall with the characters looking out of time and place. Since I can’t decipher the text (I think it is Assyrian), I am asking any linguists out there what the narrative says. I asked Siri and Google and they are clueless.

This photo was taken by a Kowa Super 66 medium format film camera with a KOWA 1:3.5/55 lens and Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 800 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Scott Holcomb replied to Xata:

The people of the past wished to leave a record of their story from this ancient wall much in the way that a photo does.

A web search provided more details of this Neo-Assyrian wall panel during the time of ruler, Ashurnasirpal II
Gypsum wall panel relief: carved and showing tribute bearers. One has a North West Syrian type turban and raises clenched hands in token of submission; the second may be Phoenician and brings a pair of apes. There is an inscription written in cuneiform script with partial white infilling in some of the signs. Originally with traces of black paint at the top.
