Grand Union Canal

This is the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal. It terminates 50 yards or so from where I took this shot. This is a 20 minute walk from home and I often pass here on the way to do some food shopping at M & S :-) Don't normally take my camera but always have my phone. The weather was good on this day so thought it was worth taking a photo :-)

The Aylesbury Arm was opened in 1814 and the canal rises 94 feet 8 inches from Marsworth to Aylesbury. There are 16 narrow locks that only allow one narrowboat at a time. This was necessary to save precious water.

As there is a bridge in my photo I have, for "Sight & Sound", chosen "Love Can Build A Bridge by The Judds.
