Beneath the bridge

The old bridge across our local river is nearing the end of its life. One of the last working lifting bridges in Australia (see note) it is due to be replaced by a 'standardised' concrete bridge next year. I thought it time to get some more images while it's there.

I suppose it's necessary but it's too bad they can't keep the old bridges.

A couple of our redundant bridges have been retained for foot traffic and cyclists with new concrete things built alongside, Good to get a record of the old bridges though George

Magnifiquement rendu...IL est toujours bon de garder des souvenirs

Sad to see it go but at least you'll have some good photos to remember it by.

Good to record it George.

The bridge over our river fell apart (its very long and high !!) and they patched it up sort of and are finally building a new one.

I cringe every time we have to cross it. A huge percentage of all the bridges in the USA are in a similar state. Don't pause for thought on that too long !
