In like a lion--

View of my patio, looking north. This is the biggest snowfall this season, by far! The local ski resort got about 5 feet (1.5 m). So at least we haven't slid back completely into drought. The inset shows a slightly different angle.

You can tell it's almost spring, at any rate, because it's melting fast. By the end of the week rain(!) is forecast.

That's an impressive drop of snow. It seems everywhere in the northern hemisphere (except the pole) has been cold this week.

I second what George said- in Germany we had a really cold spell but now temperatures have gone up about 20°C within 1-2 days.

Sort of like the snow we had in area mountains -- already gone.

Thanks, everyone! Sure enough, it was all gone in a week--but now we have another system down from the Gulf of Alaska, with a new dusting. Even with these new storms, the Sierra snowpack is still only about 50% of normal--but every little bit helps!
