New Haven River, Bristol, VT July 2023

The river in our adjacent field, July 2023.
Maybe some of you have seen the footage of Montpelier and other raging rivers in Vermont.
We were very lucky - we had no devastating flooding in our town, unlike many of the towns in Vermont.
Terrible property and business damages, but as far as I know, no-one lost their lives.
We had many fantastic out-of-state Rapid Water Rescuers helping out, as well as dedicated, brave Vermont rescue workers.
In contrast, here's a photo of me taken on our "normal" river, Oct. 2015.

The power and speed of flood water really is scary, but I am pleased at no loss of life and with the help of the rapid response teams,
But I love the contrast between the images, Deborah,
I do hope things are calming down by now !!!

Thank you, Roger. There were more thunderstorms today so the river continues to roar, but still no flooding here - although there were red alerts issued for flash floods all around us.
It's been a wild month with so much destruction. We're very lucky to have avoided it all.

Impressive video, Deborah. And the second photo really gives the video a more powerful impact.
