Radiating Disapproval on the Sofa

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: SITTING ON THE SOFA
Although quite obviously a world apart, this photo always reminds me of a scene from one of my all time favorite movies, "Gosford Park".
In one scene, the young, open-hearted, tradesman's (wealthy) daughter, who has married into an extremely upper class family,(who despise her but need the money) is at a party and pleasantly greets the matriarch complimenting her on her "lovely dress". The matriarch barely deigns to answer, looks up and down at the young woman's dress, and moves away.

Ha. The Queen was not amused. Love the clothes and shoes in this one. I see that someone has been reading "Camera" Magazine. Also, it's interesting that your sofa and mine have "tapestries" hung behind them.

Ha ha, that's a great photo, and "radiating disapproval" captures the woman's look.
