Rent Money 1940's !!!

The Sunday Challenge ....Our next challenge is all to do with money related things.
BUT!...NO pictures of any actual money!

Found these Rent books in my Mum's belongings after she passed.... so kept them as you do, must have known I would have a use for them one day.
They go back to 1949 up to 1968 it was the same amount of rent for years unlike today ..... they are falling apart but can't bin them ...

An interesting and creative triptych! Your mother kept meticulous paperwork, not just throwing everything on a heap as I do;-)

Very interesting work, Marj. I have never been methodical with money - unfortunately. ;-)

a fine piece of proof there was a writing world until 1968,
wherefore we don't forget ...
typewriters and computers took over,
and even rent isn't steady anymore ................

I see such rent books for the first time and had never heard of them, Marj! A very interesting historical contribution to the topic and a very appealing presentation of you, similar to the view into a glass showcase in the museum. Very nicely exhibited and photographed.
If I understand correctly, your mother paid small amounts several times a month, which looks like installments. Was that so common at the time?

Thank you Stevia....... it was the norm to pay weekly in those days & they called for the Rent money at the property they were renting. Not many people used banks much in those days ...

I've never heard of them either. I guess when you pay cash, you need a receipt of some sort.
