Maria Rainer replied to Stephan Fey:

Thank you, Stephan.
This is one of my first staged shots with reflections.

Really good. Looks to me like a Vermeer painting: light coming in through the window, faces bathed in light and shade, different aspects caught in mirrors, vivid details in the background. It really is a stunning photograph, the girls full of character, the stage so beautifully set.
It’s breathtaking. It must have taken great patience to realise and capture all this.
Did you give direction to the girls as to their facial expressions? What a wonderful contrast between them!

I’m also reminded of the great portraits of her daughters by Sally Mann.

Maria Rainer replied to Steve Bucknell:

This is one of my first photos taken with a digital camera. It came out by accident, I was filming my daughter, she is reflected in the mirror, the girls saw and came up with a request that I take a picture of them too. I asked them to stand on either side of the mirror and took just one shot. It's a combination of circumstances, an accident, I don't have any staged shots.

It’s an amazing shot, I think.

Girls portrait 3-fold, and with the special effect
that one is to be seen just in the mirror, very nice idea!

Thank you, I really like to shoot mirrors and reflections in them.
