my father
who graduated in economics and finance
was a senior technician in the public administration
my mother
was a domestic lady
and I became a distinguished student in mathematics
but I chose to join the armed forces
because I thought the last stronghold of defending fatherland
was my place
meanwhile surrounded by the Portuguese colonial empire
and the rest of the world that was freeing itself from phobias of the past

imposed missions and many travels afterward
took me outside of myself
I realized that my corner
nor my country
nor the world
were enough to house my dream
and dreamers
in general
have no residence on earth

life happened to me
without my own will
and its uselessness is so great
as the one of the universe surrounding me

perplexed
I fall asleep every day
waiting for God to appear on the feet of my bed
to demand His justification for life
or will it be for death?

ESTÓRIA CURTA

o meu pai
licenciado em economia e finanças
foi técnico superior da administração pública
a minha mãe
doméstica
e eu cresci aluno brilhante em matemática
mas optei pela incorporação nas forças armadas
por me parecer que o último reduto de defesa da pátria
era o meu lugar
entretanto cercado pelo império colonial português com pés de barro
e pelo resto do mundo que se libertava das fobias do passado

missões impostas e muitas viagens depois
levaram-me para fora de mim
fui percebendo que o meu rincão
nem o meu país
nem o mundo
eram suficientes para alojar o meu sonho
e que os sonhadores
em geral
não fixam residência na terra

a vida aconteceu-me
sem vontade própria
e a sua inutilidade
é tão grande como a do universo que me rodeia

perplexo
adormeço todos os dias
à espera que deus me apareça aos pés da cama
para lhe exigir justificação para a vida
ou será para a morte?
