I contemplated often each day
when passing the benches and thought I may
perhaps sit a while perhaps maybe
and watch the passers bye and see
would the gents raise their hats as in days of old
or walking past quietly glance but look so cold
maybe someone would come and sit a while
I hoped secretly someone with style
but with three benches all in a row
without a doubt it go with the flow . . .
no one came near as I sat there alone
I might have well have been made of stone . . .
