A ''HFF'' to everyone - and 'Good wishes' too - from Dj..

A view across the low water of 'Ladybower dam' revealing a fence normally about 9 metres below the surface - the water level is now rising due to recent rains but some ruins of the flooded village of 'Derwent' can still be seen in the distance. The emptied and partly demolished village disappeared in 1944 when the reservoir was created. Some gateposts are still seen from when the land was farms and cottages.

David G Johnson replied to Steve Paxton:

Gotcha Steve.. these dams supply water to cities 60 miles away - so it soon drops after a dry summer.. // Have a fine weekend - keep well and a HFF from Dj.

I love the colour contrast between the sand and the water. Great autumnal colours in the background. All the best, Joe
