Piemont Tour 2019 Aosta 1xPiP Return journey Stop Over

The Porta Pretoria is the eastern entrance gate to the Roman city of Augusta Prætoria / Aosta.

It was built in 25 B.C. ,it is in excellent condition.
A central arch, with 7 meters of light, the passage of the chariots, the two lateral ones, with 2.65 meters wide arches, were made for pedestrians. The gates were once closed by drawbridge gates.
The Porta Pretoria is made of stone blocks fixed with crushed slate.
