Yes, the background paintings go back to the 15th century, while the abbey( of which the painted external wall and the stairs can be seen) is even more ancient, being built in the 12th century.

Una splendida luce coglie la balaustra e le due persone di profilo, forse intente a parlarsi.
La diagonale divide mirabilmente la foto in due parti nette, il primo piano ben illuminato e lo sfondo nella quasi oscurità, creando un magnifico contrasto che evidenzia ancora di più la scena.
Pur non essendo questa immagine propriamente un ritratto, si riconosce lo stile di tanti tuoi lavori, basato su una luce intensa sui volti, o parte di essi, e lo sfondo scuro, oramai una cifra dei tuoi lavori.
Anch'io, come Rosa, sono rimasto incuriosito su quelli affreschi (?) sulla parete, sembrano antichi.
Insomma, una ottima foto !
