Hamble, Hampshire.

After attending the very moving funeral in Portsmouth, of our lifelong friend and husband of my Godmother (in PiP if you wish to look) we made a slight detour to Hamble on the way home, for a quiet walk and cup of tea.

Hamble, or to give it its full name, Hamble-le-Rice is in the borough of Eastleigh, and lies along the River Hamble and has stunning views. There is a ferry which operates daily to neighbouring Warsash, allowing people to easily cross between these two locations. Warsash is also an important maritime location. It is home to Southampton Solent University's 'Maritime Academy' providing training for merchant seamen, a sailing club, restaurants, pubs and shops.

This looks like a lovely marina, Rosa. It's lovely to see the Ukrainian flag flying from one of the yachts. The gull in the sky adds to the composition. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Cheers, Joe

Rosalyn Hilborne replied to Joe, Son of the Rock:

Thank you Joe. I had never been to Hamble before. My brothers suggested it. Yes there were many Ukranian flags displayed around the village, as there are here. I think it's a quiet weekend for me! I hope you have an enjoyable weekend. Cheers, Rosa.

A sad day for you Rosa, but you seem to have ended it on a positive note. This is a really lovely image. I love all the boats and yachts and the pier and the sky is gorgeous.

I like the image in the PiP...............is that an SAS badge and beret?

Rosalyn Hilborne replied to Keith Burton:

It was very nice to have a walk around Hamble. A first for me. Thank you for your kind comments Keith.

Yes it is an SAS badge and beret. The Last Post was played by a bugler...that was me totally in bits!

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Keith Burton replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

It's a very beautiful area to visit..........very affluent as well as you can see by the houses and boats!

Your friend must have been a very brave man! The Last Post always gets to me as well, I always struggle to hold back the tears when I listen to it.

Rosalyn Hilborne replied to Keith Burton:

Yes I noticed that Keith. Some lovely houses.
I learnt so much at the funeral that I didn't know about him, that he never spoke of. I just remember him for the nice man he was and his awful jokes that made us groan ;-))
