HBM ~ Inside The Pudding House

This is one of two Pudding Houses in the East Court of Montacute House. They are so called as guests would 'retire' to them to enjoy their puddings following a meal in the main dining room in Tudor and Stuart times. This would give the servants the opportunity to clear and prepare the dining room for the after-dinner entertainment.

I've not been inside the house, just the grounds before, and certainly never heard of pudding rooms. You've given me the inspiration to return and visit these beauties, preferably with pudding!
Great shots Rosa!

The house is a must Maggs. They have a wonderful portraits gallery.
Pick up a pudding in their excellent cafe ;-))

Extraordinary !
And they were waiting here for the next . . . puddings.
I am not spoiling, I think, anyone with my poor garden chairs.

A beautiful building Rosa and two gret images. I love the colours in the stonework and textures in the flagstones. I never knew about the pudding houses before this. What a delightful idea.

Well captured.
HBM and have a good weekend
