Buddle Bridge ~ Lyme Regis.

The window on the left is a dining room in The Rockpoint Inn, where my two daughters took me for a delicious meal. The PiP's are of the views we had from our window seat.
Buddle Bridge is Grade I Listed and was built in the 14th century. It carries Bridge Street over the River Lym as it flows out into the sea. It is of local stone rubble dressed with the same material, the segmental-pointed arch has a span of 18 ft. The soffit, or underarch, originally comprised four chamfered ribs but two have been removed, and the road was widened on both sides in 1913. The stone parapet includes a delightful quatrefoil design.

Looks like an ideal place to treat "Mum" and I am pleased you enjoyed it. I thought for a moment this was a copy of the "Bridge of Sighs", but obviously not as I think probably earlier than that.

A wonderful bridge it says much for it's construction that in it's long life it has not been damaged by a flood I know the river looks harmless there, I'm pleased you enjoyed your meal Rosalyn

Who needs Venice when Lyme Regis has it's treasures. It's lovely to think of it's age, how it's survived and what it has seen. The Rockpoint Inn looks a lovely place for lunch. Nice to think of the three of you enjoying a good meal together.
