What a fantastic view, Andy. The land is so flat right next to the mountains. I remember being taught about glacial valleys - and I suppose this is one of them! Those clouds are superb too.

Yor're right Jenny! The small U-shaped valley is just that, formed by a small glacier. This sierra was right at the very southern limit of the last Ice Age. Below, looking south, would have been a frozen tundra wasteland.
And I can easily picture mammoths roaming down there and being hunted by modern Cro-magnon humans (and even successfully hunted by Neanderthals too).

Look at those clouds. And the land stretching as far as the eye can see. Wonderful.

A vast and beautiful landscape............I really like the shapes and textures in the foreground rock formations and the colours of the grasses in between them. The sky is especially lovely with the white, fluffy clouds. Top shot Andy!
