Very nicely captured Andy, I assume the lack of traffic is due to the virus, it looks a lot cleaner than most UK cities

Andy Rodker replied to Peter Castell:

Traffic light management, Peter!
Most of the traffic is tunnelled below anyway!

So many leaders have to have their victory arches. At least they bequeath an attractive piece of architecture.

Andy Rodker replied to Jean:

I haven't uploaded a shot of it before because I dislike the architecture, not because I agree with cancellation culture. As a historian by training, we need to keep these things in order to fully understand and learn from, and not repeat, mistakes. Woke types don't seem to get this and I pray that their well meaning but horribly misguided views fall out of fashion very very quickly, for all out sakes.

Jean replied to Andy Rodker:

I agree with you but wouldn't keep all past monuments. Some have to go to make room for the new otherwise the place is cluttered up with stuff. Mainly statues of the great and the good nobody remembers or knows anything about.

Hi Andy

Great capture, and no traffic. Maybe locked down at home!

The sculpture on top reminds me so much of the Brandenburg Gate www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/47474516

Did one steal the idea from the other!!!

Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

As I said to Peter Castell, It is down to good traffic light management. 15 seconds before and this was chocker! Most of the traffic is tunnelled below anyway!
Yes, I oft thought of that, Peter! The answer is a probable 'yes'!
Best wishes,
Andy

Great view Andy. I read the discussion between you and Jean which I mostly agree with, but I am so glad the Colston statue is not being replaced in Bristol. They have been debating it for years and then it took a demonstration to rid the city of it.

A nicely composed image with a great set of ready made leading lines. I think the arch is quite impressive, but not very beautiful...............but much better than than that out of place monstrosity to the right which looks like it belongs on a War of the Worlds movie set!
