I really like the starkly contrasting light and shadows Andy. I prefer a fishing analogy and I found a quote by John Buchan that sums up your pursuit of a "proper" photo of your girlfriend:

"The charm of fishing is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope."
