PiP 2 and 3: Solution: It is a special candlestick, from the time when there was no electricity. The magnifying glass and the mirror makes the candlelight much brighter (i.e. to use it as a desk lamp)
Some of you have guessed it!
Actually the same principle of magnifying brightness is used in lighthouses.
