Is it the name of the city, Diane ?

Diane Putnam replied to Pat Del:

Yes it is. Named after a small town in the old Czechoslovakia. That is where the original founders of this town came from.

I like the way you have included the shadow as part of the composition. Cheers, Joe

Thank you, Joe! I meant to also try it in B&W...

A great composition, it just cries out 'wide open spaces'.

Diane Putnam replied to tiabunna:

This is what you do when you have unlimited real estate upon which to build your town! I imagine this has happened in Oz quite a lot. ;-b

Thank you!

Wide open empty spaces, long shadows. Disquieting, enigmatic, melancholy.

Diane Putnam replied to Steve Bucknell:

I'll need to turn down the saturation quite a bit to match your description. Or, B&W. Thank you.

Steve Bucknell replied to Diane Putnam:

Not in my opinion. B&W is overrated I think, it harks back to some classic American photographers. I like the intense colour of sun battered landscapes, with that exhausting sense of “too much, too bright”. Greece and Australia in B&W? Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas in B&W? No!

Diane Putnam replied to Steve Bucknell:

Well, I understand what you mean about the bleached-out landscapes. But, B&W can be dreamlike, depending entirely on subject and composition.
