Maligne Lake, Alberta

A memory of our trip to the Canadian Rockies in 2016. One of our day’s out was to explore the Jasper National Park in which this lake lies. The weather as I took this was cool and very cloudy but as soon as we got on the bus to leave, the sun came out with beautiful blue skies that would have turned the water to a magnificent azure blue in colour. In the distant water lies a very nice Island, I believe, called Spirit Island. Three glaciers can be seen from the lake in the surrounding peaks.
The lake at a surface elevation of 1670m is 22.5km long and covers an area of almost 20 square km

Nice full screen, enjoy the day.

Herb Riddle replied to Xata:

Thanks for your visit here Isabel. I have just run through all of your 2019 Canada Album and it looks like you did the same tours as us but more. Possibly you had a week or more extra than us. By enlarge I think we had better weather than you.

Best Wishes. Herb

Such a beautiful sky with glorious light amongst the clouds. I also like the silvery light on the surface of the lake.

The distant snow-covered peaks make a wonderfully majestic backdrop and the silhouetted trees either side draw us into the shot perfectly. Excellent work Herb.

I like the tiny little red buoy :-))

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks so much Keith. It was a wonderful vista but I had hoped for even better weather that appeared as we left. That being said, I still managed some nice shots including this so very happy that you liked this so much. As you see, wise p.o.v's and crops make the picture.

Keith Burton replied to Herb Riddle:

I agree about the importance of POV and crops. I often shoot a little wider than I need to, to give myself some scope in processing.
