Some walls of Castleshaw Reservoir

This area has real history. The Romans, whist occupying England had a fort just right of this scene. Here we see not a Roman fort but a diversion outlet for one of the feeder streams running from the higher Saddleworth Moors surrounding us here. I think too that the house looking building is in fact a small pump-house but I might be wrong. Our path in facts goes across the top of the dam wall just to the right of where I stand.

Have a good day.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Yes we have more reservoirs than lone trees over here. I think I have 14-15 within reach but some of them a nice drive away. You have a few too, over there in the Dales.

HWW, have a great day too. Herb

I love your point of view on this one Herb! The wild and open countryside around the reservoir looks beautiful. I'm not in this group, as benches and fences are enough for me to find each week....but I wish you HWW anyway ;-))
Cheers, Rosa.

Herb Riddle replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

Glad you liked another of my local scenes Rosa. Yes, I debated about joining this group too. I do have a lot of pictures including walls and thought -oh well -might as well. All gets a bit much though, I have to agree.

HWW to you too. Enjoy the day. Herb

Not your usual type of landscape Herb...........but quite beautiful nonetheless. I like that the diversion outlet has been built using the same stone as the walls and that it fits into it's surroundings............I'm guessing you probably wouldn't notice it unless you were really close.
