Yeoman Hey in Winter

Its winter again and here we see an appropriate view of one of the reservoirs of the Dovestones chain in Saddleworth taken some years back. Ahead we can just see the dam wall of the next reservoir, Greenfield reservoir. The main path here runs along the left side of the water. In normal times this is a quite place but at the moment more people than ever try to get here to enjoy the limited exercise allowed.

Here in Spain, the police do stop and fine people travelling by car to beauty spots if they come from confined zones. They also question people at bus stops and train stations about the purpose of their journeys. Then I see on the news crowded ski-slopes and aprè-ski jollity in the bars and I involuntarily go 'What the f...' under my breath!

Thanks Andy, yes, as you will doubtless know, we too have similar policies. Indeed over the past year, quite a few people have been fined for coming here from too far away -generally by car over 5 miles. This is about 3 from me but still a little dicey. We had at one time crowds of people flouting the rules but the increase of fines to £800 has made a difference. Even so, the car parks around here are full except in the worse of weathers. Today and this coming Monday our government is announcing some shift in lifting certain lock-down measures, mainly due to falling cases of infection and the optimism of the vaccines. We wait and see. In theory I have a holiday booked in the Brecon Beacons in Wales next month, self catering cottage, but I will not hold my breath for that :)
