The wilderness of Crummock Water

A view towards the characteristic 'Rannerdale Knotts' and further back ' Whiteless Pike' and 'Whiteless Breast' around 660m. All in all, a grand scene that show these typical foothills and fells of our English Lake District. Just behind the hill I am standing on lies the lake itself -not classed as a lake but a 'Water'. Enjoy the gentle colours and different lights here.

Enjoy full screen.

In the foreground, the severed trunks and roots, where still the grass grows!
Nature is not easily overwhelmed!
The landscape is superb with trees like sculptural forms.
"Enjoy the gentle colours and different lights here"

Beautifully composed Herb. The tree stumps make great foreground interest and a nice anchor for the shot. The hills are very impressive and much more wild and rugged than the ones I am used to in my part of the country (not-jealous-at-all). I like the shapes made by the skeletal remains of some the trees.

The use of the word "wilderness" in the title is very apt!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Very happy that you have enjoyed this scene Keith. This as you can see is quite different without the foreground lake. I would think that this looks quite different in the bright clear sun.

Best wishes, Herb

Superb depth to this lovely view Herb. A great viewpoint and the colours in the hills remind me of camouflage gear! A beautiful picture. Cheers, Rosa.

Marvellous Herb... has everything.. the tree clump looks perfect as a snack break bench too... Btw.. it makes me wonder who - back in history - made up the often amusing names for these peaks... 'Whiteless Breast' could be a busty model with a suntan ! ... // Dj.
