Holyhead and its old Lifeboat station slipway.

Seaweed now covers what at one time must have been shiny runners for the keel of a lifeboat. The station is now housed a few hundred metres from here. Behind me now in the same old buildings (renovated) is the Maritime Museum and the 'Harbourfront Bistro'.

An interesting insight into the past.. I wonder how many times the old lifeboat turned out back then...plunging into the unknown.. just as dedicated and courageous as today's men but without the safety equipment and technology.. a good view and scene.. Herb'... Cheers from Dj.

Herb Riddle replied to David G Johnson:

Good to see you again David. Yes, trip over now but lots of great snaps (I think) to spend the long Winter editing. I have now put a link to some history of this place, in the description box. Of course you are so right about these men who risk their lives for others here. Glad you like the pic.

You are right Rosa. Holyhead lifeboat station has a very proud history and is still going strong just up the road. Glad you liked this piece of history though.
