Bridge over The Mosel

Seen whilst sailing the Mosel at the golden hour.

The Moselle Viaduct carries the Bundesautobahn 61 over a meander of the river Moselle, connecting the Hunsrück and Eifel mountain ranges. This is only about 6miles (9km) from its entry into the Rhein at Koblenze.

See PiP for high view.

Thanks a lot Keith, as Steve says below, almost at the golden hour here.

I have included another view now from the top. See PiP.

Herb Riddle replied to Nick Weall:

Hi Nick, this shot was taken just at the end of a full days cruise down to Cochem. Cool Mosel wine was the order of the day, but I could not drink more than a small glass, for I had a longish drive back to out camp site, near the Rhine from here.

I have included another view now from the top. See PiP.

Herb Riddle replied to Steve Paxton:

Thanks a lot Steve, a sister shot of this bridge was posted on my Pano site many moons ago now. The lighting helps make this iconic bridge into something pictorial.

I have included another view now from the top. See PiP. Cheers, Herb

Your framing is spot-on Herb. The water looks so lovely and calm and it's a stunning bridge. Superb shot...Rosa.

This was highly controversial when built, Winegrowers though it might affect the subtle micro-climate variations they depend on. Other people just thought the cost would outweigh any travel time saved. I have no idea what people think now!
A fine shot!

Herb Riddle replied to Andy Rodker:

Thanks for this extra info Andy, that I did not know about. Like you, I have no idea what the locals think of this now but there were many vehicles going over it. Of course it makes a fine photo. Hope you saw the adjacent picture too.

Best Wishes, Herb
