Abbaye de Jumièges

Just one of the splendours of the Jumièges Abbey ruins. This was a Benedictine monastery, founded in 645 and rebuilt by the Duke of Normady in 942. Here we are looking down the nave to the choir of the abbey church.

Herb Riddle replied to Nick Weall:

Thanks Nick. This was a fabulous place to explore. Not only great history, going back to the early Normans and beyond but also a happy snappers paradise. Again too many to choose from to put on here but happy you like this one. ~ Herb

Without doubt, one of the most impressive Christian religious ruins we have ever seen Dany. Hope you got a glimpse of the PiP too. Cheers, Herb

Fine shot of this lovely old Abbey... Herb.. The two people standing at the end of the path give scale to this shot....Very interesting notes... John.

Herb Riddle replied to John Goodwin:

thanks a lot John. Aye, one of them even has a red jacket on for me but that is not so obvious with this wide angle shot. The end wall in this shot goes even higher but is not evident here. I hope you got to look at the PiP which gives a better idea of the height of this place. Good you liked the notes too. ~ Herb

Gorgeous architecture, and perspective, Herb. The 2 figures at the end accentuate the grandeur of the abbey.

Herb Riddle replied to Amelia:

It seems that you and John above see things the same way, and who am I to argue with that! Glad you liked this. ~Herb

Thanks for another visit Keith. A job to get exposures right in a situation like this hence a touch of HDR. Glad you think it is 'balanced'

Hi Herb

I like it a lot!
It reminds me of a set you did at Valle Crucis by Llangollen.
Technically perfect as ever!

Best Wishes

Thanks a lot Peter. Yes, a similar building but on quite a difference scale here. Very happy that you managed to compare them both. Great comment!
