Playa de Levante, Benidorm

Love it or hate it, Benidorm has something for most people, including me! This is looking North from the Balcon de Mediterraneo. Behind the city-scape is the splendid walking area of the Sierra Helada Natural Park.

I must admit that these building have caused me to have some problems trying to possibly make sure that they were all straight and then correct that. In the end, I just left alone and put it down to my eyes!

Herb Riddle replied to Nick Weall:

You are right Nick - what we see here is a mix of hotels and apartments. There were a lot of people about at the end of January but with the temperatureswe experience, nobody on the beaches. Another thing entirely in the middle of Summer when its standing room only. In Winter, a place for the more elderly to escape the cold north Winters but in Summer a place for a good rave up by the young. Guess where we fit?

I know exactly the place where you took this photo, Herb: The Balcon de Mediterraneo is a very nice place to watch the beaches.

You did well with this, Herb!
I must admit that when I first came to Spain, I was greatly surprised at how popular Benidorm is among Spaniards for their hols!
I had presumed it was exclusively for beery Northern Europeans !

Thanks Andy. It is indeed very popular all the year round and, credit where credit is due, the town has gone to great lengths to soften its beery name with wonderful promenades, gardens etc. I found that this Northern beach was more a favourite with the Brits and the Southern Playa Mal Pas much more popular with the local Spanish. We liked that part best!- We came here on two day trips, the first to simply explore the beach proms the second to check-out the shops etc. I have another opposite way view, altogether more pleasing than this on my 500px site

First ever view by me of a 500 px photo!
Yes, I think you're right and it is the view I remember from driving past here in 1981 (my only visit), when it was already heavily built up.
Have a great weekend, Herb!
Best wishes,
Andy
PS. Just seen Rosa's and your comments. I always take the trouble to look at links!

Herb Riddle replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

Thank you so much Rosalyn, not only for visiting me here but also on my 500px gallery. I sometime put links to my other sites (and from them too) but rarely do I have confirmation that someone took the trouble to follow them. Sometimes I think that maybe I should just have one site but that would mean putting nearly three times the amount on here and so I imagine many would simply be bypassed. - Anyway glad you like them both.
Best Wishes, Herb
ps the general area is well worth a visit.
