Golddistel (Carlina vulgaris) in offensichtlicher Kältestarre.

The time of the butterflies comes to an end this year. On a cool, misty morning, I discovered this
Common Blue Butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) on a
carline thistle (Carlina vulgaris) in obvious cold torpor. Its antennae and labial palps (see notices) were covered with small dewdrops, a sign that it had spent the whole night in this position on the carline thistle. Its almost disappeared fringes on the edges of its wings show that it has been a butterfly for a long time and now its lifetime is coming to an end. The hawthorn blue overwinter in the caterpillar stage, other blue overwinter as an egg.
The photo was taken in a nature reserve.
