Yesterday I found a larger occurrence of this elegant orchid species in a in a rather dark Franconian mixed deciduous forest. It is the white helleborine (Cephalanthera damasonium). The flowering ripeness of this orchid species does not take place until the 10th year (!) after seed germination. It occurs self-pollination. Interesting is the nutrition of the white forest bird, see Wikipedia article.
