... ist die berühmte Wendeltreppe im Deutschordensschloss in Bad Mergentheim. Sie wurde 1574 von Blasius Berwart zusammen mit 20 Steinmetzen gebaut. Im Bild ein Blick durch die Mitte der Treppenspindel von unten nach oben. Man sieht die Windungen der "Schnecke", getragen von filigranen Säulchen. Oben sieht man die Sonne als Christussymbol. Auf der Unterseite der Treppe läuft ein sich ständig veränderndes Ornament. Man bedenke: Dies alles wurde geschaffen ohne PC und CAD-Programme, nur mit Zollstock und Zirkel. Ein wahres Wunderwerk.

In the picture a view through the middle of the stair spindle from down to the top. You can see the turns of the "snail", carried by filigree columns. Above you can see the sun as a symbol of Christ. On the underside of the staircase runs a constantly changing ornament. Note: All this was created without PC and CAD programs, only with a yardstick and compasses. A true marvel.
