Perfect for today Amelia..............the war memorial looks really smart with the giant poppy. I've probably never said this before, but that's a very attractive road junction.

Nice one!

Amelia replied to Keith Burton:

It does look attractive on a Saturday or Sunday for most of the day, but it's horrific on weekdays in the mornings from 7.30 to 9, and in the afternoons between 3 and 5.30. We have tractors, milk lorries, school buses, articulated vehicles and parents transporting children to school etc. The main road in the village is narrow and unsuitable for many of the vehicles, and this cross has been hit by an articulated lorry which broke some of the sandstone and turned the main body of the cross about 20 degrees to the right of the base plinth. It awaits repair.

What a great idea, very effective and helps us to remember all those who have given up their lives to help uphold what we value most.

It's so good to see some pictures from your village with the very unusual name Amelia.
Your main pictue is especially beautiful and yes we will always remember them.

Keith Burton replied to Amelia:

Traffic is getting to be horrendous nearly everywhere nowadays wherever you live, although I guess the smaller towns are the most affected by it............and I doubt it will get any better :-(

The poppies catch the eye! In Germany it's called "Volkstrauertag" and very much low key, understandable in the light of our history.

Amelia replied to Gudrun:

There are no winners in war, Gudrun. Atrocities are committed on all sides.

There never have been, never will be and yet warmongers always tend to forget this...

Superb pair! No more war! If only the warmongers around the world would not be able to dupe populations to support their cause and generations of kids for slaughter. Stay well!
