The garden this morning

We used to open the garden for the National Garden Scheme, but since we lived in Norway from 2007 - 2012, and because I was ill in 2018, it has never been the same, and is not fit for showing. I do work hard in it and love it, but I get tired more often. It's an age thing. ;-)

The plants here are Alliums, Geraniums, Aquilegia, Smyrnium and ferns in the shady area. The roses, clematis and other herbaceous perennials will take up the challenge from June onwards. From winter the snowdrops hold the scene followed by Winter Aconite, then self seeding Crocus tommasinianus, then Narcissus pseudonarcissus. I always try to have something in flower for every day of the year. I'm not into shrubs at all.

It's a charming colour combination, Amelia!
And I do prefer your square trellis to the more common diamond shaped ones.

Amelia your Master Gardener talents are to be applauded! Lots of effort and love went into that garden. The delicate curve to the edging and the harmonious arrangement of the plants work so well. Hope you are in good health now! :)

I have to have blood tests every year and a meeting with the oncologist team. My next meeting is early next month. But I feel fine at the moment.

Looking lovely and much better behaved than mine the spaces that were intended for planting have disappeared and going to the greenhouse is becoming an expedition as usual !! I think a few shrubs add some height in the winter when the perennials have died down, the advancing years are a ____ nuisance they get in the way of doing things

A beautiful border Amelia. My alliums are very late this year and I wonder if they will actually flower. Looks like you have a stray 'granny's bonnet' there. They seem to be everywhere in my garden! A beautiful picture.

Your garden looks really lovely Amelia...........it seems to be thriving and I'm guessing this was taken after some rain, as it all looks very fresh and vibrant.

A beautiful image.

I can relate to the "age thing".........our garden is really far too big for us now and we struggle with it sometimes. It kept us sane during the Covid lockdowns though, so we can't complain.
