My childhood playground

For me this beach was endless, the sun always shone, the sea was never too cold to bathe in and there were no caravans parked on the Kinkell Braes. We lived within easy walking distance of the East Sands, and there was rarely a day that I wasn't here, pottering about, collecting shells to paint, or peering into the rock-pools looking at the anemones, small crabs, molluscs and shrimps.

Was I wearing rose tinted glasses? Maybe, but I did have a wonderful childhood.

Cracking composition, it sums up perfectly the wide open space of the East Sands. There may be a touch of rose in your narrative Amelia, but with such a wonderful playground who could blame you.

This looks really nice Amelia. I could have enjoyed this as a child. These days sand doesn't appeal quite so much. It still looks beautiful.

A happy childhood Amelia and happy memories.
A beautiful wild beach with the rocks, which I'm sure you also enjoyed clambering over.
Excellent shot and notes.

Did you play there with three other children and a dog called Timmy? This is what your wonderful narrative immediately made me think of (excitement and adventure wherever they go) :-))

It sounds idyllic Amelia..........and what if it is a bit rose tinted.........that's how childhood should be. Children seem to grow up far too quickly today :-(

Anyway, enough of my rambling..............this is wonderfully composed and looks beautiful in the sunshine..............there's plenty of room on that beach. Such nostalgia........and I love it..!!

I did not live near the sea , but in the middle of the mountains and I can say the same. Other times, when the children were out most of the time alone with friends and could do everything. Only when it was time to eat mama called from the balcony or window.

A wonderful place to be a child. No surprise that you have happy memories. I lived in the country until I was five and have happy memories of it. After that I lived in Glasgow but we had freedom and were out all day just the same.

Same playground as I had, difference is that as kids we had to help adults but we were very happy too, we had nothing but enjoyed and valued all we could get. No pink glasses either.
