Self Isolating
Yes it happened. Mum went back in hospital after blood test showed kidney under severe pressure from her heart medicine diuretics. I took a call from an anxious On-Call GP at 3:45 am saying she should be readmitted to hospital as an emergency to save her kidneys!

One week on

Mum still in hospital. She was about to be discharged greatly improved rehydrated, medicines changed, Consultant optimistic and assurance giving of continuing care but a swab test taken that day showed positive the next morning for Covid-19 so she was moved to a different Covid Positives ward.

It appears it would be hospital acquired but we have decided to Self Isolate just in case. Feeling OK at present but only 9 days since we saw her so taking care.

NHS Test and Trace phoned us but didn't get past BT Call Protect which is strange be because at least some scammers know how to do that. Their message was caught in a Junk voicemail that I only checked because of the current situation with MUM i.e. someone might have been trying to call us.

Their message said they would call again. I changed the Call Protect settings but they never have called us. You can't call them.

We guess it would be to tell us to self isolate but we decided that for ourselves.
We have also contacted the only other contacts with Mum in recent weeks who are all NHS staff.

Mum doesn't seem to be feeling very ill now, she was feeling poorly a few days ago. Perhaps she will recover, we hope so but who knows aged 93 with heart failure and kidneys working hard. Perhaps we won't get ill or perhaps we will.

Stay calm and carry on. Well yes easier said than done today.

STOP PRESS Latest ... breaking news.......

Mum died Saturday evening. We were able to talk to her just a couple of hours earlier which I am sure was a comfort to her (and us).

Final thought.:
So Mum became a statistic, her 1st listed cause of death corona pneumonia.

This always seemed a risk so we had shielded Mum from weeks before the first Lockdown and we did so successfully until other issues took her to hospital.

END

Thanks Peggy, Just spoke to Mum and she doesn’t feel very ill and is managing to eat but no surprise she does sound very tired and knows she is going to be in hospital for some time now.

This is everyone's nightmare scenario. Here we are all getting more jittery again, particularly in light of the new figures.

I do hope that your Mum recovers, and that you and your family remain healthy, Colin.

Thanks Amelia, such a shame that she had to be readmitted to Hospital. We are getting occasional phone calls but Mum has never had a mobile phone until we sent one to her in hospital and seems to need help from staff more times than not.

Best wishes to you and your Mum, Colin.
It must be very worrying for you.
However, the medics have found a few things & treatments that help ...

Fingers crossed & healing vibes dispatched !

Worrying times for us all Colin but more so for you, I hope everything turns out ok for you all in the end. Since Lockdown we have not had sales calls or the like as all Call centres were shut.

Thanks, we have surprised to still get some scam calls getting past the BT settings with some International ones included when we have all international calls blocked. We ended or isolation today and had a run out into the countryside this afternoon. No good news from hospital on our return but we were not really expecting any.

Such sad news, Colin. I think this is the first Covid related death that I have read about n Ipernity. I hope you had some peace at the end, as did she.
