Make sure you see especially the last three: Edit in 16-bit, correct the horizon, and have a break before you publish!

GIMP users probably need to update to latest 2.10 version to get their hands on 16-bit mode under 'Image > Precision' menu. That is definitely useful advice for me, because I have used to edit JPEG only, and have suffered because of banding a lot.

I always shoot RAW, convert to DNG when importing to Lightroom. Edit in the bit depth of the RAW image (which is 14 bit for my GX8 and 16 bit for my 80D). Then export as a jpg for publication here. Btw, ipernity allows also RAW uploads.
