On complaining ..
WHEN YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ...
MY COMPUTER HAS MICROSOFT ON IT .

LAST NIGHT UP POPPED THE REMINDER

'UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE'

SINCE I HAD PUT IT OFF, FIGURED I'D GO AHEAD AND OK

UPDATE THEN SHUT DOWN

.. WELL, THIS MORNING I TOOK SOME PHOTOS OFF THE SD CARD

BLESS PAT !

YES, THEY WENT TO MY FILES TO ADJUST -

BUT-

IT HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM A WHITE BACKGROUND TO A BLACK ONE

SOMEBODY DECIDED TO CHANGE ICONS -

WHY CAN'T IT PEOPLE LEAVE THINGS THAT WORK

ALONE!

THE FOLDERS I HAD SET UP - WOULDN'T ACCESS THEM -

NOR WOULD IT LET ME OPEN NEW FOLDER..

FINALLY FOUND A FOLDER TO PUT THEM IN

WHY DO UPDDATES NOT UPDATE?

RANT OVER

NO, I DON'T FEEL ANY BETTER, THOUGH

IF YOU ARE AN IT PERSON, THIS ISN'T DIRECTED AT YOU - AM JUST FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW.

Agreed and of course it’s not just Microsoft but as you mention it I have yet to see a Windows 10 Update that gave me something visible I actually wanted. I only hope that the invisible ‘security’ updates are real updates.

Then there is build in obsolescence but let’s not start on that :-(

STILL NOT SOLVED HOW TO AVOID THEM. SUPPOSE THEY ARE OK - IN GENERAL.

MAKES ME WONDER ABOUT SOME EMAILS I GET. LIKE TODAY -05 JULY- GOT ANOTHER 'REMINDER' .. "YOUR MCAFEE IS ABOUT TO RUN OUT".

HAVEN'T HAD THAT SINCE I PURCHASED THIS LAPTOP AND IT CAME ON IT.
MCAFEE HAS BEEN REMOVED .. YET I'M STILL IN THE ADDRESS FILE OF THAT COMPANY.

JUST ANNOYING.

Understand your concern. You really never know where these update requests come from. I suppose one could contact the site of the program requesting the update to see if there is indeed an update that is needed but would be a time consuming effort.

I'm lucky - I have a Mac and don't use anything Microsoft.

That's wrong - I have a Mac so I don't have to have anything to do with Microsoft - had to use Microsoft on my work computer and absolutely hated it.
