I'm back home!!!!!
Hiya folks,llo

Here I am, writing to you from my home. Oh boy was that a long time away. I didn't realise how ill I actually was until they told me!!! Apparently I had a lot of fluid around my heart and also around my kidneys, lungs and liver!!! So they put me on very strong fluid dispersal drips. Through my cannular this amazing medicine kept me alive and got rid of a lot of fluid - 10kg in fact!!!! Can you believe that? When I had sepsis a few years ago, it damaged my heart and kidneys, so the heart couldn't pump away as it should, so the fluid built up and it was almost "Goodnight" for me. I gathered it was serious when they started asking about DNR and whether I was willing to sign a form for it - I was so shocked and angry at the same time - that I told them that there was no way I was going to sign any form like that. I said that I had no intention of leaving this earth, and I was going to keep on fighting, besides I thought it only right to give my children the right to say goodbye to me, rather than have them get that phonecall and not have anyone to say goodbye too - besides Mandi can't leave Turkey anyway - so that would be so unfair to her. So nothing was signed.

So eventually on Friday night, they allowed me to leave the hospital, which was wonderful news. Bit of a culture shock though - in the hospital it was so nice and cosy - warm enough to sleep under a sheet and a thin blanket, but boy when I came out - it was already -4C (24.8F) - now my house doesn't have any central heating - just a radiator and a small halogen fire. I was so cold, so hot water bottles and blankets to the rescue. When I eventually got to bed - it was so wonderfully cosy and warm, there's nothing like fleeced cotton sheets. Mmmm bliss !!!!

I see that Mickey has been keeping you all up to date with my condition, which is wonderful of him. He's certainly upheld his side of the friendship we've had for about 15 years. He's a wonderful man and my best friend.

Well it took me about 2 days to adjust to life at home on my own - bit scary because I'd had qualified nurses/doctors etc around me all the time, should anything happen to me - now I was all alone - it scary as I said. Well on Sunday I decided that I was going to get back to my resin craftwork and made a few pendants.

Oh boy did I miss doing these. I'm sorry if I am boring you with these pendants, but I feel so happy to see how well they have come out.

Oh well, I suppose this will have to do for my first blog at home - just wait until the rest of what I want to say - suffice to say I was in a ward where I was the only person who knew her name and where she was!!!!!! Boy was that great!!!

Okay folks, until next time. I do hope you are keeping safe. It was great to see on the main news while I was there, that my home area of Torridge (just part of Bideford) and the Shetland Islands were the lowest areas for COVID19 infections in the whole of Great Britain!!!! The nurses said they had only 4 people in the hospital with COVID19 but they were doing well.

I must say - I was so proud to have these amazing nurses and doctors looking after me - they are all unbelievably patient and kind and they deserve whatever praise they get - amazing people

Wow you've been busy since you got back home.. They're beautiful Jenny.

So lovely that you're back home, safe and sound. Oh, that DNR business does sound a tad preemptive! What a nerve! I've read news stories whereby loved ones have felt pressured into those for their sick relatives during this lock-down. Glad to see you're still with us :)

Do look after yourself, and take care Jenny.

Welcome back!

Thank you so much Fran. Yes I really missed not doing any of my craftwork when I was in hospital. I remember thinking that I was there doing nothing, I could have made so many items with all the free time I had there. They woke us up at 5am and we were expected to go to sleep around 9pm. Those are ungodly hours to me!!!!!! They only mentioned DNR to me, while they could see I was aware of what was going on. They probably wished they'd never mentioned it after my tirade about refusing it!!! I had no intention of going anywhere, I have too much to live for. I am looking after myself, I'm eating well, and taking my blood pressure every day, and it's roughly the same each time. So I'm getting much better. Thank you so much for caring.

Take it easy now your home Jenny, I am pleased to hear that you are back. I got lured into a false sense of security here, Cheshire on the BBC website was doing quite well but going onto the council site we could see by ward and ours was particularly bad, I am stuck indoors for a while and waiting still for a vaccine. The pendants all look very nice and it will give you something to do. Take care of yourself. Steve.

Thanks Steve. I was really relieved to hear that there were only 4 people in the whole hospital with the disease. They were soon to be going home going time, which was great news. I have been told to rest by everyone and that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm very glad that you like my pendants. I am really enjoying myself doing them. Thanks so much for caring.

Very pleased that you are back home Jenny.
And so very pleased that the hospital got you sorted out, even if it wasn't an overnight job. As for that DNR, dammed cheeky of them. Good for you telling them to forget it.

I hope that you are warm enough today and you don't have too much snow ! My late father used a combination of electric heating that included Night Storage Radiators - which were for background heating and ran on a special cheaper tariff. In fact, the two older ones, in his bedroom and the living room, would pump out a lot of heat ...

The local birds had plenty of sun yesterday, to make up for the snow and are eating a huge quantity of dried mealworms, in with the seed and peanuts that we usually feed at this time of year. Not to forget the birdbath, which we de-iced several times yesterday and again this morning.

I really like those beautiful pendants, you have a really good eye for arranging their fillings.

Keep Safe, my dear !

Lovely to hear from you. Yes they have sorted me out, but it's a case of time. I haven't been warm today - it's so cold. Last night was lovely in bed. I put the electric blanket on for the first time and it was bliss. When I thought I'd switched it off - I hadn't!!! I'd turned it up and half way in the night - I had to wake up to switch it all off - I was sweltering!!!!

Thank you with regards to your comments on my pendants. I'm so glad I don't have to look after birds and other wild animals/birds - I'd be no good at it nowadays.

Those pendants are utterly beautiful!
Great for you to be back home at last. Fantastic news!!
I agree about night storage heaters. We had them when I was a child and I also had them in my last flat in Madrid. Very warm and economical!
Best wishes and stay well and safe of course!

Jenny McIntyre replied to Andy Rodker:

Oh Andy thank you so much for your comments on my pendants. Yes the radiators seem to be able to keep the room warm enough, especially when joined up with the halogen heater. I have no intention of going out, so I am staying safe and well.
