Yep the thunder DID go somewhere else!!!!
I was shocked when I read in the on-line local paper, that a town about 9 miles from me had been completely flooded out!!! Seeing the streets and roads completely awash, shops being swept out with the water, goods for sale were totally ruined, cars had been left in the middle of the roads, completely useless in water that was half way up the doors!!! Whilst the poor people of the town were trying to save their personal possessions etc from the flood, we were enjoying sunshine. I looked on the live webcams of the beach near me - and there were people on the beach, some swimming and some on boards, totally unaware of what was happening a few miles away. I then went to look at the webcams near where the rain had been - and you could hardly make out anything on them, because the rain was relentless!!! Isn't it strange how two totally different weather conditions can occur but only miles away from each other.

It reminded me of a similar occasion many years ago - about 30 years ago I think, when I was still living in Exeter and it was a cold winter. Now usually the South West doesn't get much snow - something to do with the jet stream or the gulf stream - one or the other, and it keeps this area milder than in other places. Well this particular time, we got snow and people were being told to take care when driving and to check whether they needed to go home early to avoid being stuck in the city all night. I kept on looking out the window, but nothing was coming down out of the sky. So that meant I had to stay in the office all day!!!! When I eventually got home - not having seen any of the white stuff, I saw on the local news that snow had indeed fallen all around Exeter and an aerial view of the city, was absolutely amazing. The view was of complete whiteness, apart from a small circle around Exeter!!! I've never seen anything like it since - it must have been a one-off - very strange.

I spoke to Mandi this afternoon, and she was looking so hot and bothered. The temps are so high over there, and there's hardly been any wind. She's too scared to go out to the beach because of the huge influx of tourists. Well the family who's renting out the apartment above her, had some relations to stay with them - a husband, wife and two children!! Considering it's a one bedroom apartment, it's rather cramped!!! Well they've been there almost 3 weeks, but she said that she saw the husband and wife for the first time since they arrived!! She'd seen the grandparents with the children often - well most days - but now the parents are coming out and going to the beach with the children!! Strange how they've been stuck indoors for nearly 3 weeks - considering they'd come down to the coast for a holiday, why did they stay indoors? They'd come down from Istanbul, where there is a large amount of COVID19 cases. I wonder if they'd come down, but self isolated for over 2 weeks. That's not fair on Mandi and Dogan downstairs. She doesn't speak to them, so she now makes sure she's indoors or on her patio when they come back from the beach, just in case.

This virus is becoming so tiring - especially as most of us have been keeping to the rules and not gone out without a mask and keeping a good 2 metre distance from each other, apart from the idiots who decide they don't want to do that - they want to have parties!!!! Yet the government say they want us oldies (people over 65) to stay indoors to stay well. NO - they should ensure people from the ages of 20 - 40 (who seem to be the main culprits of ignoring the rules) should be made to stay indoors, to be isolated - not us oldies - we don't have raves nor street parties!!!

Okay rant over - I do get fed up with hearing about the raves, and that people seem to have totally changed their persona and are behaving irresponsibly.

No rain today - just humidity and overcast. Great!!! Stay safe everyone please.

Oh the damage is awful! Those poor people. Yes it is amazing the way the weather does that. I always find it interesting if you're driving and in front or behind you, you can see its raining. But perfectly fine where you are! Ive seen it rain on one side of the street and not the other! Oh well, guess it has to end and start somewhere.

Yes I know the rain has to start and stop somewhere, it just blows my mind when I see it for myself. It was just so shocking to see the results of the deluge which was so close to me. They said there had been a month's worth of rain dropped in under a day!!!!

Yes, weather patterns are indeed odd and I wouldn't want to try and forecast or predict them.
One time, a long time ago, my Mum was in the back garden checking the laundry that was in full sun. At the front of the house, it was raining; this wasn't a particularly big house.

It's annoying, re people who simply won't be sensible. The amount of people I see in the supermarket with their mask around their chin just beggars belief. I've been avoiding the one neighbour for months now, as when we first went into lock-down they were off work and had numerous parties with quite a few additional people in their household. People like that will ensure this virus is with us for far longer than it should be.
Stay safe Jenny.

Thanks Fran - yes I could cheerfully strangle those idiots who flout the rules and seem to think nothing applies to them. Their attitude that they'll be fine, amazes me - they don't think that they are endangering some who would die if they should catch the virus - me for one!!! Now I read that someone (an expert apparently - yet this virus was unknown before this year) says that the virus would be with us for about 2 years or maybe for ever!. Great!!!

Stay safe too, Fran. xx

nice blog Jenny.
I have a new bit of nrws on the young idiots.
In Manchester last nigh a massive street party closed a main road causing chaos. Will they never learn? that's two large parties in the last 3 days

Thanks Mickey - those idiots need sorting out properly. Let's hope that the law does actually do something that will deter them. By actually carrying out the threats. Confiscating the music, fining the person who holds the party etc, and making the people at the parties be isolated in their homes for 2 weeks.

Hello my dear! Thanks for the blog, it was very interesting to read! How incredible to read about the micro climate and the serious flooding in that town, yet it was so nice just a few miles away. The story you shared was amazing...how strange to be in a place that didn't get any of the weather that was promised...it almost sounds like you were in the "eye" of that storm, even though that isn't the situation in a storm like that.

What a bummer for Mandi these days. I have no idea how I would react if I had to live in an apartment building...I'd be a mess for sure. It is a blessing to live rurally so we don't come in contact with anyone unless we go out. And now that we are traveling in our RV, we can easily distance ourselves from others because the campsites are large enough to stay quite a distance from others. Any activities we do are also simple for staying away from others. It's actually been the very best situation because we're not stuck in one place. It's the very best way to travel! I wish that you could do that. Get Mandi to fly back to England, rent a travel van and just go around England from one state park to the next! Without question, our ability to travel and stay safe has repaired our mental trauma from all of this...but we sure do look forward to a vaccine!!!

Finally, we can certainly join together in screaming at the tops of our lungs about the outrageous stupidity and selfishness of the masses out there. It's just incredible. Just yesterday Steve and I rode our bikes from our campground to a town 11 miles away and Steve went into a grocery store for some things while I stood outside waiting at the bikes. So strange to watch people walking in and out of the store with masks on...and yet, once in a while I'd see some jerk who wore a mask around his chin and glared angrily as he entered the store. Saw a woman doing that too. What the heck? I mean seriously! Why must this be the time for throwing a tantrum? *shakes head* Insanity.

Ok, I'm off! I posted a veritable novel today and I think you'll find some familiar friends there too! :D *hugs and love!* :D

Hiya Janet - how lovely to hear from you. Mandi lives in a house, with the apartment upstairs being let out to others. The garden etc is hers, but the people upstairs are so rude and obnoxious, that she doesn't want to bump into them or else she'll be angry with them. Okay I'm off to read your novel !!!!!!!
