Ant-Man + Marvel Movie Ranking
We saw Ant-Man on the weekend, and I thought it was very good! That got me thinking as to how I would rank the recent run of Marvel movies, and this is what I came up with.
First let me say that Ant-Man is an entertaining movie that has the right balance of seriousness and fun. They also do well to fit it into the existing universe that the movies have built up. For example, they mention the Avengers and suggest calling them in to stop this deadly world threat but then provide an understandable reason why that's not going to happen. An example of the super-hero-comic logic that makes sense if you don't dwell on it or else you'll just start asking questions like "Then why not call the FBI or something?"

So with that out of the way, how do I think it's stacks up to the rest of the movies? Well, first I want to keep in mind that this is not all Marvel movies, but the ones that take place in and around the world of the Avengers movie universe. So no Spider-man, no Fantastic Four, and no X-men (not even the great First Class movie, probably the best of the X-men franchise). And although Hulk is conceivable as both a stand-alone film OR a the direct predecessor to the Incredible Hulk, I'm not counting that earlier installment either.

Here we go!

12. Iron Man 3
11. Iron Man 2 (maybe... I'd have to watch it again to see if I liked the 3rd better)
10. Thor
9. Thor: the Dark World
8. The Avengers: Age of Ultron
7. The Incredible Hulk
6. Captain America
5. Iron Man
4. Ant-Man
3. The Avengers
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

So we're pretty close in that top half, but quite divided in the bottom half.
When you get to see it, I hope Ant-Man makes it into those top numbers somewhere. :)
