Looking Forward to 2015
The year 2014 at ipernity has been nothing short of amazing; it was the year I discovered photography as a hobby. I have all you marvelous ipernity members to thank for that!

When I first came to ipernity over a year and a half ago, I was following my fellow doll collectors, hoping that we found a better place than the one we were at. Very quickly, many realized that not all their friends wanted to follow them to ipernity, so they chose to go back to the community they were familiar with. It left me at a crossroads; do I go back to the community I came from, or do I continue to make friends of the photographers whose beautiful work touched me in a way that opened my world? I was finding it increasingly harder to keep up with everyone in both communities. During that time, I discovered that as I became more interested in photography as an art form, my interest in dolls waned. I finally decided to stay with ipernity and immerse myself in the community of photography.

Though I still have my Flickr account, I really don't do much with it. I visit my doll friends there occasionally, but my priorities have drastically changed. Photography fills spaces that were previously empty.

Thank you all for sharing your talent, encouragement and most importantly, your friendship during this past year! :))

A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your loved ones!

You've certainly displayed a great talent for photography. I would never have guessed that you've only been at it as a hobby for a year. Very pleased to be able to see your work and get to know you a little. All the best, Val.

Funny how something so good has come out of something which at the time seemed disastrous for many. I'm talking of course about the flickr revamp, which also pushed me to look for an alternative and thank heavens for ipernity.

I came thinking all I would do was post the type of photos I did on flickr, which for me were all to do with cars. However, like you I've been encouraged (mainly through TSC) to try photographing a wider variety of subjects, something I'd not done since I was a lot younger.

And like you, I'm enjoying the experience immensely as I am seeing new friends like yourself develop their skills and expertise ... long may it all continue!
