Occasionally, I go to a different supermarket from the one I work in. I can't think of a single supermarket that has every single item I want/need. With that in mind, I often keep a jacket in the car so I can disguise my uniform if I've come from work, though this week, it's been far too hot for an extra layer. I was going up the travelator, when I espied a man coming down same, he was eating a pasty, and almost choked when he saw my uniform, and commented loudly that I work for a different supermarket. Yes, I said and then ignored him.
I had gone to said supermarket to collect my meds. This is the closest chemist to the house, and although we have a chemist in my store too, if I'm ever ill and my son has to collect any meds, then him walking 2 miles to my place of work will not thrill him one little bit, so I never changed, nor will I. I then proceeded to buy some wine that we don't stock. At the till, yet another customer pointed out that I work in a different store, no sh*t Sherlock, and stated it wasn't a good advertisement for my store. I politely pointed out that the goods I had were not available in my store. (Why would I forgo our staff discount if they were?) He laughed and stated he was just pulling my leg. I merely smiled, and thought: Get A Life, lmao.
Wednesday, our store was so quiet, and we'd finished picking just after 10am. Good grief! Quiet days like this make me concerned for my job, though there are new starters who would hopefully be first to leave if staff have to be culled. Selfish of me I know... The rest of the week slowly but surely picked up and I had some large orders to pick including one that was for 159 items; biggest order I've seen in ages! The rest of my week passed without incident, no issues, and orders have steadily grown.
Sunday, we had yet more people in the store too early. Not as early as 08.30am, but still before we were officially open. A manager was walking around, so I just kept quiet and picked. If the early birds had approached me for help, I'm not sure how helpful I would have been.
Normally, I'm now off for 2 days, though I now have another day of work, my 6th day in a row. I was asked to swap a shift, couldn't think of a good reason not to, lol, so Monday I'll be working. Thankfully, it's just for 4 hours then I'll have 2 days off. I'm off at the end of July, and I'm counting the weeks :)
Have a good week next week. Hopefully this lovely weather will contine; less than 20C, sunny, and a good breeze - gorgeous!
Oh, I managed to get a new pair of trousers for work. Even managed to get the correct length so I don't have to hem them. Fantastic! Had to go to 4 shops to do it though... lol

I've seen at least 2 people recently in our store from a 'rival' supermarket; I merely smile and say Hello. They're paying customers too. Yes, the man choking was weird.
We have showers forecast for this morning, and it is cooler. At least I slept better last night.
Oh, she can keep 38C! That would be unbearable for me, and many others I'm sure.

I spoke too soon re the weather. It's dull and damp now. I watered the potted plants on Sunday, typical!

It's quite common to see staff shopping in t'other one for exactly that reason - one stocks items the other doesn't ! There's at least a couple of families with employees at both [in one case, they have a distinctive head of hair so it's obvious they are siblings]. Why not shop where you want / need !
For convenience we are continuing to get food delivered. So we are helping keep drivers and pickers employed - had to laugh with the order last week, a couple of the substitutions were a little out in the left field. That is - a copy of TV Times instead of a specialist subject magazine and mangoes instead of apples !
We are having to reduce spending a little, so buying some of the more "luxury" items less frequently, like no wine this week. We went healthy and got a big bottle of apple juice instead. And a bulk jar of "light" mayonnaise as we are eating a lot of salads.
Weather had been nice and sunny, but for the past two days, wet and windy as a contrast. So, some gardening has been postponed. Although, I did get out with the camera before teh weatehr "broke" ...
Looking forward to getting my pension soon, but as a friend says, he's been so busy after he retired, he's no idea how he found time to go to work !
Keep Safe ...

Dull here today, though warm enough to still dry the laundry outside.
I tried early retirement, for a while, from the uni, though I did get bored sometimes. Then when I moved to this area, I tried for work again, and here I am, in a supermarket. It makes our lives more comfortable, financially speaking, and I like to get out and about.
If I had more money and a bigger property with a large garden, I could happily stop working again lol. I'd grow veggies, more herbs, maybe have some animals...
